General Guidelines
Golden Little League (GLL) and/or Golden Junior Baseball Association (GJBA) coaches, parents, guardians, family members, and guests are expected to hold themselves to the highest degree of moral standards emphasizing respect for individuals and the spirit of the game. Parents, guardians, and family members understand that playing for GLL/GJBA is a privilege that requires commitment to upholding the values of the organization, both on and off the field. Parents, guardians, and family members understand that they are responsible for the behavior of any guests they invite to GLL/GJBA activities and events. Guests are expected to follow the same standard of behavior as family members. To remain in good standing, all parents, guardians, and family members must:
- Show respect for coaches, umpires, players, and other parents
- Communicate and participate with the coaches
- Remember that the game is for children not adults
- Emphasize skill development and practices over winning
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games/practices
- Respect the game by encouraging fair play and following rules and regulations
- Refrain from abusive or unsportsmanlike behavior or offensive language, gestures, and music
- Respect the privilege of the use of the facilities
- Comply with applicable league rules, regulations, and policies of Little League International (LLI) and Rocky Mountain Junior Baseball League (RMJBL)
Create a Safe and Positive Environment
GLL/GJBA is dedicated to promoting a positive, safe, and welcoming environment at all our games and events, and we will strive to build confidence, character, and a sense of community among our members. Any efforts to undermine the positive environment will not be tolerated.
- Parents, guardians, family members, and guests will be positive role models and will encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and support of all team players.
- Parents, guardians, and family members will not in engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct toward the umpires, coaches, players, or other parents.This includes any comments negative in nature, such as booing, taunting, or using profane language or gestures.
- Parents, guardians, and family members will emphasize skill development and practices over winning.
- Parents, guardians, and family members will respect umpire decisions.
Substance Policy
GLL/GJBA believes in the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for our players to practice and compete. Parents, guardians, family members, and guests will actively support an athletic environment that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and understand that violation of this may result in a player’s suspension/dismissal from GJBA. Players are prohibited from possessing, using, or consuming the following substances at all GJBA functions.
- Illegal drugs
- Marijuana and substances derived from marijuana
- Alcohol, Tobacco, Nicotine, and/or Vaping and vaping products
Respect for Facilities and Equipment
GLL/GJBA parents, guardians, family members, and guests will care for and respect the facilities and equipment made available during the course of the season. GLL/GJBA parents, guardians, family members, and guests will commit to maintain the cleanliness and condition of all facilities and equipment used for GLL/GJBA functions and activities. GLL/GJBA parents, guardians, family members, and guests are expected to follow the rules and procedures of any facilities the team visits for games or other functions during the season. Those that are not willing follow facility rules will not be allowed to participate in the event at that facility - no exceptions.
Addressing Parent Concerns
GLL/GJBA understands that over the course of the season issues and concerns may arise that need to be addressed. GLL/GJBA believes that addressing these issues directly and in a timely manner is the most effective policy for all parties.
- Whenever possible, parents, guardians, family members, and guests should abide by the 24 hour “Cooling-Off” period before raising their concerns.
- Most issues, including playing time, team policies, and team discipline should be discussed with the Head Coach and/or Assistant Coach at the proper place and time.
- Parents, guardians, family members, and guests who have followed the above steps and still do not feel their concerns have been addressed should contact the GJBA President ([email protected]).
Discipline
GLL/GJBA is committed to fostering a healthy, safe and positive environment for our players, coaches, and families. Parents, guardians, and family members that fail to follow the code of conduct shall be subject to discipline which may include, but not be limited to, removal from team activities, being prohibited from attending future team activities, and dismissal from the association. Discipline shall be handled by the team coach and the GLL/GJBA Executive Board as needed.
Commitment to Excellence
As the parent/guardian of an GLL/GJBA player I, will conduct myself in accordance with this code of conduct. Further, I understand that violation of this code of conduct or any violation of Federal, state, or local laws and/or ordinances will result in disciplinary action that could result in suspension or immediate dismissal from the association and forfeiture of all fees.
