GLL/GJBA conducts an annual Opening Day Ceremony in early April to recognize the start of the spring season.  Players, coaches, parents/guardians, family members, friends, neighbors, and other community members gather to kick off the season.  Activities typically include:  A Player Parade, Recognition of Special Guests including players from the Colorado School of Mines Baseball Team and the Golden High School Baseball Team, Player Contests, Crowd Contests, Recognition of League/Team Sponsors, Military Flyover from the US Armed Forces, Military Guests from the US Armed Forces, Honor Guard from the American Legion in Golden, Player Gifts, Merchandise & Promotional Items for Families & Friends, Food & Music, mascot Dinger from the Colorado Rockies, the City of Golden Police Department, the Jefferson County Sherriff & Mounted Patrol, the City of Golden Fire Department, the Pleasant View Fire Department, and the Maple Grove Elementary School Choir.
